In the brochure Our soil and carbon storage we take a closer look at the organic material in the soil, and the importance it has for building up a fertile soil. Increased carbon storage in agricultural soil is considered an important climate measure both nationally and internationally. Increasing the stock of organic matter in the soil through increased photosynthesis seems to be the surest way to increase the carbon supply to the soil. Soil contains up to three times as much carbon as is found in the atmosphere, and it is possible to take more out of the atmosphere and store it in the soil via photosynthesis.
