In the piggery at Mære, we are conducting trials with new FORMAT concentrated feed for lactating sows on behalf of Felleskjøpet Agri and Felleskjøpet Fôrtvikling. These experiments are ongoing.
In 2013, the joint purchase launched a completely new concept of feed for sows, based on tests carried out at Mære Landbruksskole. Feed consumption during the diet period
It is mainly the FS (birth to piglet) departments that are used for concentrated feed trials on behalf of Felleskjøpet Fôrutvikling. The experiments mainly take place throughout the lactation period, but in some experiments the growth of the piglets is followed until slaughter or the gestation period is included as part of the experiment. We divide the sows into 2 groups/sections, an experimental group and a control group (experimental section and control section)
We record feed consumption on the sows during the dieting period via a daltec dry feeding system with potion feeding in long-faith. The feeding facility has 3 recording stations, 2 with standard feed and one with trial feed. The feeding facility is also used during the piglet period, so a feed mixture is adapted to piglets after weaning.
In addition to registering feed consumption, a number of registrations are made around pigging. The piglets and sows are weighed at birth and weaning to record litter growth and weight change during the diet period. These registrations are sent to the researchers in joint feed development and are used as a data base.
